President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev Attends United Nations Conference in Turkmenistan

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan recently visited Turkmenistan to participate in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, held at the Awaza Congress Center from August 5 to 8, 2025.

The conference aimed to address the unique challenges faced by landlocked developing countries and promote sustainable development, international cooperation, enhanced transport connectivity, trade facilitation, economic transformation, resilience to climate change, and the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Upon his arrival at Turkmenbashi Airport, President Tokayev was greeted by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan. The two leaders had a brief conversation before the official ceremony of welcoming the heads of delegations.

During the conference, President Tokayev took part in the plenary sessions and emphasized the importance and honor of participating in this representative international forum. He expressed confidence in the successful implementation of the conference's decisions, which included adopting the Avaza Political Declaration and a Programme of Action aimed at strengthening cooperation among landlocked developing countries and their partners.
