Arrests of Several Fugitives at the Borderline
In an early morning operation on September 15, 2025, a 45-year-old Latvian national was arrested at the Bietingen-Thayngen border crossing. The federal police officers who carried out the arrest were from the Federal Police Inspectorate Konstanz.
The man was wanted by the authorities due to four outstanding arrest warrants issued by the Amtsgericht Bremerhaven. The public prosecutor's office in Bremen was seeking the individual after the court withdrew his probation in two cases and he failed to appear for sentencing in another case.
The man was convicted by the Amtsgericht Bremerhaven in all four cases for theft. In addition, there was also an unpaid penalty order against him.
At the time of the arrest, the man was traveling by long-distance bus from Switzerland to Germany. He was taken into custody by the federal police and will serve his total sentence of nearly two years in the Konstanz prison.
The Amtsgericht Bremerhaven is involved as the issuing authority of an arrest warrant used by the Bundespolizeiinspektorat Konstanz to detain the suspect in Konstanz.
