Arrests intensify in the Northern region!

Bustling Anticipation for the 33rd Tollensesee Run

It's shaping up to be a grand event! The organizers of SV Turbine Neubrandenburg are all hype for the upcoming 33rd Tollensesee Run, happening this coming Saturday. Breaking a three-year streak, over 1000 registrations have been recorded across all distances. In a record-breaking move, over 100 walkers, men and women alike, have signed up for the 13km route - a first timer!

Registration Heaven at the Sports Gymnasium

Turbine's big boss, Jörg Knospe, says they're thrilled, but they're holding out hope for even more last-minute registrants. Don't despair if you've forgotten to sign up – there's still a chance! Registrations can be made on Friday and, you guessed it, on race day. The registration desk will be set up in the atrium of the sports gymnasium and will be open on Friday from 5 PM. Come Saturday, it'll open at 7:30 AM.

Kickstarting the excitement on Friday will be kids races spanning 400 and 800 meters. These little sprinters will race it out in Kulturpark, starting at 5:15 PM. The fun doesn't stop there - the free Sparkassenlauf on Saturday at 9:15 AM is another event not to be missed! The three strongest participating clubs will snag themselves a cool 500 euros each. Fingers crossed we see around 2000 participants in total!

The marathon is the main event on Saturday, and the question on everyone's lips: will last year's victor, Chris-Marvin Scheffler (Turbine), attempt the grueling 42.2km route around Tollensesee again? The 21-year-old seems tight-lipped about his plans, saying he isn't quite at last year's form. A year ago, Scheffler smashed a new course record with a time of 2:32.48.

Defending Champ Steps Up to the Plate

Stefan Lange, the defending MV Marathon champion from SV Turbine Neubrandenburg, has officially registered! He recently clinched the Ueckermünde title in March with a time of 2:42.47 and has had his eyes set on the Tollensesee Marathon – often referred to as the "toughest in the north" due to its hilly terrain.

The women's marathon is wide open with no big names in the roster. But watch out for Friederike Preuß from Pasewalk! Last year, she finished a respectable third behind the winning Berliner, Viviane Jaekel (3:29.30), with a time of 3:37.21.

The marathon contestants and relay teams will take off first at 9 AM, followed by half marathon (10 AM), the 10km run (10:10 AM), and the walkers (10:20 AM). "I think we're well prepared and can't wait for a fantastic Tollensesee Run. The weather's supposed to be great too," says Jörg Knospe.

  • With over 1000 registrations across all distances, sports enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the upcoming 33rd Tollensesee Run.
  • The free Sparkassenlauf on Saturday at 9:15 AM is another sports event not to be missed, with a potential 2000 participants expected to attend.
