Arrested Krasnoyarsk Deputy Gliksow Petitioned for House Arrest
Rewritten Article:
On March 25, Alexander Glyskov's appeal hearing took place in the Krasnoyarsk Regional Court. Convicted and with his attorney, Glyskov aims to challenge last year's court verdict and hinted at his intention to run for re-election.
Remember, Glyskov was sentenced
to 10 years in a strict regime penal colony and a fine of 10 million rubles last October.
According to the investigation, Glyskov spread damaging information about the "KraiDEO" enterprise between 2015-2016. He allegedly threatened to fire the then-deputy CEO (now ex-deputy) of the company, Samet Yusubov, with his job if he didn't pay him money to keep his position. Supposedly, Glyskov also promised to provide protection in return for favorable treatment and to create beneficial working conditions for the company. As Yusubov himself stated, Glyskov demanded 5 million, out of which he received only 1 million.
Glyskov, however, maintains that the case against him is fabricated and politically motivated.
According to Glyskov's official Telegram channel, today the court denied his request for direct participation in the hearing and only allowed his proxy. Moreover, as supporters of Glyskov claim, even the media was barred from filming or taking pictures.
Glyskov cites the following reasons for overturning the conviction:
- there is no evidence of money transfer, only the words of witness Sergio Titov;
- there is no action taken as a bribe taker: the deputy claims he only received the bribe and didn't help Yusubov or "KraiDEO" afterwards;
- there is no jurisdiction for a legislator to interfere in human resources policy of a state enterprise, so he couldn't fire Yusubov;
- lack of legality: vague accusations, Yusubov's statements were not corroborated, "the judge did not hide his prejudiced stance";
- lack of fairness and compassion: no justification for the overly harsh sentence.
During the hearing, Glyskov also declared that he had submitted a bid for participation in the SVO and was preparing to sign the contract.
The Krasnoyarsk Court allowed the presentation of part of the defense documents, which the Central District Court had refused to include. The next hearing has been scheduled for April 17.
