Arrest of Divorce Lawyer Accused of 2013 Homicide of His Client
Updated News Flash
After over a decade, the dude who offed Aliza Sherman in downtown Cleveland has been nabbed. Gregory Moore, Sherman's old divorce lawyer, was slapped with charges last Friday.
The 51-year-old, believed to be the hooded man in security footage from 2013, stands accused of Sherman's aggravated murder, conspiracy, six counts of homicide, and two counts of kidnapping.
The unfortunate incident occurred on March 24, 2013, while Sherman was waiting outside Moore's office building. According to the indictment, an unidentified accomplice of Moore attacked Sherman from behind, fatally stabbing her more than ten times.
The case remained cold for years, until recently when the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations stepped in, following NBC's "Dateline" featuring Sherman's case.
"The Sherman family has endured more than a decade of uncertainty concerning their mother's tragic demise," Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O'Malley declared. "Law enforcement agencies have diligently gathered evidence that undeniably implicates Gregory Moore in the heinous murder of Aliza Sherman."
Intriguingly, the indictment claims Moore attempted to create false evidence suggesting his innocence by communicating with Sherman before and after the murder.
It's reported that Moore had been investigated for sending bomb threats to a courthouse, with the motive to skip those trials. The indictment alleges that Moore was aware of these investigations.
Back in 2017, Moore confessed to inducing panic regarding the bomb threats and falsifying statements during the Sherman investigation. His arraignment date at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center is yet to be announced.
