Locked and Loaded:

In the heart of Sultan Kudarat, the heat was on as the 603rd Brigade of the Philippine Army squared off against the scourge of the New People's Army (NPA) in a deadly skirmish on June 19, 2025. The confrontation unfolded past 2:00 PM in the hinterlands of Kalamansig, unfurling a tale of rebellion and retribution.

The NPA claims three casualties from their own ranks. These fellows were part of the Sub-Regional Committee (SRC) – Daguma Far South Mindanao Region, reported to be the masterminds of the chaos.

But the NPA's misery didn't end there. One of their own met his end, a casualty of the 37th Infantry Battalion, PA.

Brigadier General Michael Santos, the commander of the 603rd Brigade, urged decisive military actions against the 37th IB following the confrontation, spearheaded by Lieutenant Colonel Christopherson Capuyan in Barangay Datu Ido Andong, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat Province.

The rebels, under Eusivio Cranzo alias Kuimander Brix's command, walked into an ambush, pinned down for over two hours by government forces.

During the two-hour battle, Brix's group was dealt a significant blow, losing their positions by the brave soldiers.

The triumphant troops recovered an arsenal of military stocks, including three M16 rifles, ammunition, magazines, and various personal effects from the insurgents.

The 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division Chief and Joint Task Force Central Commander, Major General Donald Gumiran, hailed the bravery of the 603rd Brigade and the 37th IB, yet expressed condolences for the soldier who lost his life in the crossfire. The pursuit of remaining NPA rebels in Sultan Kudarat and neighboring South Cotabato provinces continues with renewed vigor[1][3][4][5].
