In a chilling case of alleged revenge and organized crime, a suspected hitman has been arrested in Romania in connection with a murder that took place at Alexanderplatz, Berlin, on March 18, 2019.

The victim, Edgar Orlovskij (26), lost his life at the scene, following a brutal attack by the alleged killer, Alexander Z. (58), who hails from Moldova. According to reports, Alexander Z. stabbed Mr. Orlovskij twice with a knife and fled the scene.

The investigations into the background and the exact course of events are ongoing, but it is believed that the Russian allegedly hired Alexander Z. to carry out the killing of Edgar Orlovskij, in revenge for a perceived slight. It is also reported that the father of the victim had attempted to extort money from the 44-year-old Russian suspect, which may have escalated the situation.

The images of the suspected killer were released to the public by police and prosecutors about a month after the crime, and relevant tips from the public played a significant role in identifying Alexander Z. The suspects were identified through intensive investigative work by the Berlin Police and the Berlin Public Prosecutor's Office, with the support of Europol.

On June 24, 2025, Alexander Z. was arrested in Romania based on a European arrest warrant. The 57-year-old and 44-year-old suspects were arrested in Riga (Latvia) and Bucharest (Romania) respectively, in the following days.

Searches were conducted at six residential and business addresses in Schoeneberg, Mitte, and Falkensee (Brandenburg state), resulting in the seizure of various weapons, electronic data carriers, and business documents.

However, due to the ongoing nature of the investigations, there is currently no verified information available on Alexander Z. or related investigations. Official sources such as police statements, reputable news outlets, or legal databases would be necessary for up-to-date and accurate information on such criminal cases.

This tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of organized crime and the lengths to which some individuals may go to settle scores. The Berlin Police and the Berlin Public Prosecutor's Office continue to work diligently to bring those responsible to justice.
