In a notable case of potential voter fraud, Naseef Bryan, a 34-year-old permanent resident from Jamaica, is facing charges for illegally voting in several elections, including the 2024 presidential primary and general elections.

The discovery of Bryan's alleged illegal voting was made possible by an executive order signed by former President Donald Trump, which directed the Department of Homeland Security to provide the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service's SAVE Database to the states. This database is crucial in verifying the citizenship status of voters.

Bryan's case is being heard at the Ninth Circuit Court, Manchester District Division, with his arraignment scheduled for August. The charges against him include illegal voting in a local Manchester election in 2023, as well as the 2024 presidential primary and general elections. If found guilty, Bryan could be sentenced to between three and a half and seven years in New Hampshire State Prison and fined up to $4,000.

Interestingly, in one of his filings against USCIS, Bryan references maritime law and requests relief in the form of gold coins. However, the details of his grievances against USCIS are unclear due to the filings being 'ambiguous and contain[ing] long stretches of writing about disparate topics.'

This case comes amidst growing concerns over noncitizens illegally voting across the country. In Texas, Attorney General Ken Paxton launched an investigation into over 100 potential noncitizens who allegedly cast at least 200 ballots in the 2020 and 2022 election cycles. The majority of the suspected illegal ballots were cast in Harris County, Texas, but investigations are also ongoing in Guadalupe, Cameron, and Eastland counties.

The issue of noncitizen voting has political implications, particularly in states like New Hampshire. Republicans have controlled the governor's office and both chambers of the New Hampshire state legislature since 2021. The Republican-backed law requiring proof of U.S. citizenship for voting in New Hampshire was passed in 2024 and took effect after the 2024 presidential election.

In the 2020 presidential election, former Vice President Kamala Harris narrowly won New Hampshire's four electoral college votes over President Donald Trump in a 50% to 48% vote. However, the impact of undocumented voting on the election results remains uncertain.

Recent events have also raised questions about the need for immigrants to influence election outcomes. Democratic Rep. Yvette Clarke of New York caused a stir when she suggested in a resurfaced video that she needed immigrants to bolster the numbers in her district for redistricting purposes.

As the investigation into Bryan's case continues, it serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining the integrity of the voting process and ensuring that only eligible citizens are allowed to vote.
