Army's Chinar Corps Mourns Havildar Ankit Kumar's Loss at Line of Control in J-K
In the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir, on the night of August 12-13, 2025, the Indian Army successfully foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC), resulting in the martyrdom of Havildar Ankit Kumar of the 9 Bihar Regiment. The incident took place in the Baramulla district, amidst heightened tensions and nuclear threats by Pakistan's military leadership.
The Chinar Corps, the Indian Army's 15 Corps, publicly honoured Havildar Ankit Kumar's supreme sacrifice, expressing deep condolences to his family and saluting his immense valor in carrying out operational duties along the LoC in Uri. The Army launched a search operation after the encounter to prevent further attempts at infiltration.
This infiltration bid was not an isolated event. It occurred amidst escalating tensions and followed earlier counterterror operations such as Operation Sindoor and targeted retaliatory strikes. To enhance its LoC defenses, the Army has been using advanced surveillance measures like smart fences, quadcopters, night-vision devices, and upgraded weaponry to detect and rapidly respond to infiltration threats.
Unfortunately, the operation also claimed the lives of Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh during Operation Kulgam in South Kashmir's Kulgam district. The Indian Army, the Chinar Corps, and all ranks stand firmly with the bereaved families of these heroes in this hour of grief. General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, and all ranks of the Indian Armed Forces saluted their supreme sacrifice.
The Chinar Corps also mourned the loss of Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar, who died while on operational duty along the Line of Control in Baramulla district. The Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, and all ranks of the Indian Army pay tribute to Lance Naik Pritpal Singh, Sepoy Harminder Singh, and Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar.
Search operations are continuing in the area where Havildar Ankit Kumar lost his life. The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army paid tribute to Havildar Ankit Kumar and stands in solidarity with his family. It is a reminder of the ongoing volatility at the LoC despite ceasefire agreements and diplomatic efforts.
The Indian Army remains resolute in its commitment to safeguarding the nation's borders and honours the supreme sacrifices made by its brave soldiers.
The Indian Army, acknowledging Havildar Ankit Kumar's supreme sacrifice, continues to stand resolute in safeguarding the nation's borders, also remembering and honoring the sacrifices of Lance Naik Pritpal Singh, Sepoy Harminder Singh, and Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar, who all lost their lives in the line of duty. In addition, the Indian Army utilizes advanced sports technology such as quadcopters and night-vision devices to improve its Line of Control defenses and rapidly respond to potential threats.
