Marching Ahead with Tradition: Duisburg's Shooting Festival

Excitement is high in Duisburg as the city gears up for the much-anticipated Shooting Festival! Despite a slight adjustment in the starting location, Mayor Christoph Landscheidt expressed his enthusiasm, emphasizing, "We're confident that the parade and the shooting festival will draw a vast crowd to the Prince's Square." A big thanks goes out to the Initiative City Shooting Festival and all participating associations for preserving this cherished tradition.

Contrary to earlier posters, the ceremonious parade will kick off this year not at EK3, but at Karl-Flügel-Platz, standing proudly before the Sparkasse. The parade commences at 1:30 PM, with the Federal Shooting Ensemble St. Viktor from Xanten providing musical accompaniment to the shooters as they make their way to the Prince's Square.

From 2 PM, the royal contenders from various brotherhoods and associations will gather on the Prince's Square, vying for the title of city shooting king and queen. Some of the aspirants aiming for the throne include:

  • Dirk and Martina Leyendecker (St. Michael Shooting Brotherhood Saalhoff)
  • Jürgen and Irmgard Preuß (St. Johannes Nepomuk Brotherhood Alt-Lintfort)
  • Sascha and Sandra Otto (Shooting Club Eintracht Altfeld-Saalhoff)
  • Tobias I. Müller (Shooting Club Freischütz Kamperbruch)
  • Jan-Luca Esselborn and Monika Pakula (Citizens' Shooting Club Eintracht Bönninghardt-Vierquartieren)
  • Adolf Dormann (St. Bernardus Brotherhood Rossenray)
  • Christian and Marina Hanke (St. Josef Shooting Brotherhood Kloster Kamp)

This year also marks the return of the prize shooting, adding an extra layer of competition to the event.

The initiator of the City Shooting Festival, Willi Gelen, highlighted the importance of Sparkasse Duisburg's support as a sponsor, expressing his eagerness for the event: "As always, we will ensure our guests' wellbeing, and a bouncy castle awaits the little ones." Gelen looked forward to the event alongside the royal couples, association representatives, and administrative officials.

Unfortunately, public sources don't list the specific contestants for this year's Shooting Festival in Duisburg. For precise details about the participants, it would be best to consult official local event listings or announcements from the Duisburg municipality.

Although we couldn't find specific information on the contestants for the city shooting kingship, it's a worthwhile tradition to preserve and enjoy. Don't miss out on witnessing this historic event in the heart of Duisburg!

The sports of shooting will be showcased at the Shooting Festival, where various associations compete for the city shooting king and queen titles. The contestants will gather on Prince's Square from 2 PM, with notable participants including the Leyendeckers, Preußes, Ottos, Müller, Esselborn and Pakula, Dormann, Hanke, and more.
