Armed, masked robbers steal 21 crore rupees in cash and gold from a SBI branch in Vijayapura, Karnataka.

In a daring daylight heist, three masked men looted cash and gold worth over Rs 21 crore from the State Bank of India's Chadchan branch in Karnataka's Vijayapura district on Tuesday evening. The incident was reported by PTI on Wednesday.

The robbers, who entered the branch under the guise of opening a current account, used a Suzuki EVA vehicle with a fake number plate to carry out the crime. They threatened the manager, cashier, and other staff at gunpoint, and plundered the bank after tying the hands and feet of the staff.

The suspects reportedly fled towards Pandharpur in neighbouring Maharashtra after the heist. A case has been registered on the complaint of the bank manager, and the police are investigating the matter following the looting incident.

The Superintendent of Police in Vijayapura, Arshad Amin, is leading the investigation. However, no further information has been provided about the suspects' identities or their escape route.

The robbers made off with over Rs 1 crore in cash and around 20 kg of gold ornaments, valued at nearly Rs 20 crore. The police have launched a search operation for the suspects, and special police teams have been formed to track them down.

This incident comes just days after a massive fraud was reported at a Telangana SBI branch, where a cashier is suspected to have stolen 20kg of gold and over Rs 1.1 crore in cash. The public is advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the local police.
