Armed Ex-Con Shot by Homeowner During Burglary Attempt
A 40-year-old man, recently released from Mississippi's corrections department due to prior burglary convictions, was arrested at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. The man, on supervised release, was shot by a homeowner while attempting to break into a property in Jones County, Miss.
The incident occurred when the man, with a known criminal history, tried to enter a residence. The homeowner, fearing for their safety, shot the intruder in the arm, causing a single gunshot wound. The man was later charged with burglary and theft of a motor vehicle from a separate property.
This is not the first time the man has been involved in such an incident. In 1978, a man suspected of a robbery in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi was overpowered by a woman with a concealed revolver, though it's unclear if this was the same individual.
The man, arrested with a gunshot wound to his arm, faces charges of burglary and theft. His criminal history, including previous convictions, has led to his supervised release from the Mississippi Department of Corrections. The homeowner's actions, in response to the attempted break-in, resulted in the man's arrest.
