Two Nigeria Immigration Officers Abducted in Benue State

On Friday, counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama published information regarding the abduction of two officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State. The incident occurred on September 18, 2022.

The officers, identified as Orasuur Oliver Orseer of Jato-Aka and Orwese David James, were serving at the Immigration Forward Operations Base in Adikpo and were deployed to a border checkpoint in Ugbema, Buruku LGA, on September 10. According to reports, they were returning from duty on a motorcycle when they were waylaid by unknown gunmen, suspected to be bandits, near Zaki-Biam, Ukum LGA.

The exact location of the abducted officers is currently unknown. However, security sources have mobilized anti-kidnapping and tactical teams to track the suspects and rescue the abducted officers. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspects for possible arrest, while investigation continues.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Kwande was informed of the incident by another immigration officer, Shiekaa Yosev, on September 18. Following the kidnapping, security forces including the Police, Civil Defence, DSS (Department of State Services), Amotekun Corps, and other local security agencies have mobilized to track down the kidnappers and rescue the abducted officers.

This incident marks a concerning development in the ongoing security challenges in Benue State. The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
