Counterterrorism Operations Intensify in Kashmir

Counterterrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir have escalated following recent encounters in the Dul area of Kishtwar and Kulgam district.

In Kulgam, a major operation called 'Operation Akhal' is now in its ninth day. The operation, involving the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, and Special Operations Group, has resulted in the neutralization of three terrorists. Security forces continue to search dense forest areas using high-tech surveillance such as drones and thermal imaging to target remaining militants. This operation in Kulgam is considered one of the most significant counterterrorism efforts in Kashmir this year.

The operation in Kulgam was launched on August 1 following specific intelligence inputs. Tragically, two soldiers, Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh, were killed in the Kulgam encounter on Saturday night. The Chinar Corps paid tribute to the slain soldiers.

Meanwhile, in Kishtwar’s Dul area, the Indian Army has engaged in an intense gunfight with terrorists, which is now entering its second day of operations. The operation was launched following intelligence inputs, and security forces continue to maintain contact with militants believed to be operating in the area. One terrorist was reportedly neutralized in the prior Kulgam encounter during these related operations.

Kishtwar is a known infiltration corridor used by Pakistan-based terrorists moving toward Kashmir, making it a persistent hotspot for counterterrorism activity. The operation in Dul area follows a previous encounter in Kulgam on Saturday, where at least one terrorist was killed.

Security forces remain on high alert across the region as coordinated counterterrorism operations continue. The White Knight Corps made the announcement about the operation. The operations involve continuous surveillance, intelligence-based missions, and direct engagement with terrorists in difficult terrain.

The current operation is part of coordinated counterterrorism efforts across the region, with the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, and Special Operations Group working together to neutralize terrorist activities. The situation remains tense, with gunfire exchanged during the operation in the Dul area.

  1. The escalation in counterterrorism operations in Kashmir, as seen in the ongoing Operation Akhal in Kulgam and the recent engagement in the Dul area of Kishtwar, has become a significant part of today's general news and politics, particularly regarding crime and justice.
  2.
