Arizona set for heightened storm activity through Thursday and Friday

Heavy Rain and Potential Storms Forecasted for Arizona

A storm system approaching Arizona from the west is expected to bring more shower and thunderstorm activity over the next few days, according to meteorological reports. The Valley, in particular, has the best chances for showers and thunderstorms on Thursday evening and Friday.

On Friday morning, heavy rain led to a water rescue and flooded roadways in North Phoenix. Any storms that develop could bring gusty winds, blowing dust, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, and heavy downpours. A Flood Watch is in effect until 2 a.m. Friday for La Paz and Yuma counties, including Yuma and Quartzsite. Severe storms and flash flooding may occur in parts of Arizona.

The storm system will tap into moisture from Tropical Storm Mario, increasing the likelihood of heavy rainfall. Residents are advised to stay updated on the weather conditions and heed any warnings issued by local authorities.

As the weekend approaches, there will be closures near downtown Phoenix and along the 60. Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 90s by the end of the week.

In other news, Scripps News obtained video of the accused Charlie Kirk shooter after a 2022 car crash. Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump suggested revoking licenses for networks that are critical of him.
