Argentine Sensation Camila Fabbri's Latest Novel Wins Spanish Prize

Argentine literary sensation Camila Fabbri has once again captured attention with her latest novel, a road trip tale aimed at Millennials. The book, which Fabbri submitted anonymously, won second prize in the prestigious Spanish Herralde Literary Competition in 2023.

Fabbri's novel, praised by Hanser Verlag, follows Paulina Almada and her friend Maite as they journey to Maite's father's home in Quequén. Despite its linguistic prowess, the story is plotless, offering a nihilistic perspective on life in Argentina. Paulina, the protagonist, is portrayed as a character with little depth, driven mainly by her desire for a provider 'man'.

The novel, titled 'La reina del baile' in Spanish, was first published by Editorial Anagrama. It was later translated into German as 'Dancing Queen' by Hanser Verlag, with a hardcover edition priced at €22. Leila Guerriero lauded Fabbri's unique, undomesticated voice. Since 2021, Fabbri has risen to prominence in the literary world, with her works gaining significant acclaim.

Fabbri's road trip novel, while linguistically impressive, offers a nihilistic take on Millennial life in Argentina. Despite mixed interpretations, it continues to spark conversation and intrigue readers, solidifying Fabbri's status as a significant voice in contemporary Argentine literary devices.
