Gunnar Schupelius Slams COVID-19 Policies: Are Mistakes Being Repeated?
Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) recently warned of a potential Coronavirus surge, urging people to wear masks, avoid large gatherings, and get vaccinated. But are these measures necessary, or is the government overreacting?
The perceived threat of the virus seems to have decreased, as Lauterbach and his colleagues shift focus to personal responsibility and voluntary measures. This is a stark contrast to the past two years, which saw strict mask mandates, contact restrictions, and curfews enforced with vigilance.
However, these measures have been met with controversy, and several mistakes are coming to light. For instance, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) deemed COVID-19 vaccines unapproved for virus transmission protection, but this was the rationale for mandatory vaccinations in healthcare and the military. The Greens even proposed a nationwide vaccine mandate for the entire population.
Anyone who opted out of vaccination was labeled antisocial, with doctors and politicians calling for unvaccinated individuals to be excluded from public life due to the alleged risk they posed to the general public. But this was a misconception, as the vaccines did not protect against virus transmission, so an unvaccinated person was never more hazardous than a vaccinated one. The closure of schools also proved to be a mistake in hindsight, causing significant psychological damage.
Similarly, the mask requirement, introduced when schools reopened, proved ineffective, according to a large-scale English-American study. And doubts are growing about lockdown as an effective means of containment. The excess mortality post-Coronavirus vaccination remains unresolved, and the damage to health it has caused is yet to be established.
It's high time the government acknowledged and rectified their past mistakes to learn for the future. Regrettably, not a single health ministry in the federal states seems concerned about this issue. Instead, they continue to issue warnings without substantial evidence or justification.
