Hubert and Staller are back on the hunt for murderers: ARD revisits the start of the cult series - ARD revives Hubert and Staller with classic 2011 episodes at 9:05 AM
ARD is bringing back the first season of Hubert and Staller for its morning schedule. The show will air weekdays at 9:05 AM, starting with 16 episodes from 2011. Originally a spin-off from a comedy sketch, the series has remained a firm favourite with over two million regular viewers.
The comedy series follows Franz Hubert (Christian Tramitz) and Johannes Staller (Helmfried von Lüttichau), two detectives working in the picturesque Bavarian town of Wolfratshausen. Their cases unfold near the scenic Fünf Seen (Five Lakes) region, though specific filming locations from the first season remain undocumented.
The characters first appeared in Tramitz and Friends, a comedy show, before landing their own comedy movies. Oliver Mielke produced and directed the debut season, which aimed for light-hearted entertainment rather than intricate crime plots. Frank Beckmann, ARD's early-evening coordinator at the time, described the show as 'good, old-fashioned fun'—a contrast to darker detective dramas.
Despite its simple premise, the series has thrived for 13 seasons. The rerun of the 2011 episodes now offers new viewers a chance to discover its charm.
The revival of Hubert and Staller's first season keeps the comedy series in ARD's weekday lineup. Its mix of humour and crime-solving continues to attract a loyal audience. The series remains one of the network's most enduring morning programmes.
