Archer Returns to His Position in Park Sanssouci - Archer Returns to His Spotted Hangout at Sanssouci Park

Hey there, history buffs! We've got some exciting news for you about one of Park Sanssouci's legendary figures: The "Archer"! After a much-needed facelift, this iconic statue has returned to its rightful spot in Berlin and is now gracing the Great Parterre below the Orangery Palace since Monday.

This 3.5-meter high fellow has been through a lot since 1900 when Kaiser Wilhelm II swooped him up for a cool 10,000 Marks to showcase him in the park. Over the years, old man time and some freaky weather have take their toll on our courageous hero. Remember that storm in '86? Yep, that one that knocked the poor fellow right off his pedestal! His bow and face took quite a beating and left him somewhat lopsided.

But fear not, because a dedicated restoration crew knew just what he needed! Attention was focus on cleaning and re-shaping the upper body of the copper figure, mending cracks, and covering holes. You know, just a typical Sunday spruce-up for a 19th-century artwork maestro created by Ernst Moritz Geyger.

Sanssouci Park, situated in lovely Potsdam, is where these two meet. This banging garden is a historic gem, dating back to the 18th century and nestled among architectural masterpieces such as the Sanssouci Palace, Orangery Palace, and the New Palace. It's kind of like the artMecca of royal archives and lush landscapes.
