Aragon Storm Cleanup: 99% Power Restored by Thursday
A storm on Sunday left around 50 'minor incidents' in Aragon, with two transformers flooded. Endesa, the power company, is working to restore power to 99% of affected users by Thursday. The Minister of Finance, Interior and Public Administration, Roberto Bermúdez de Castro, has announced the region has entered the 'normalization phase'.
The cleanup operation is ongoing, involving around 200 personnel. The work is divided into three parts, focusing on the most affected municipalities: Cuarte de Huerva, Cadrete, and María de Huerva. In Cadrete, the focus is on an area where the Huerva River makes a meander, affecting several homes. In Cuarte de Huerva, two areas are being worked on: one along the river and another around the Monastery of Santa Fe.
In María de Huerva, brigades and firefighters are busy cleaning a parking lot and removing cars, as well as tidying urban streets. Additional support is coming from Protección Civil and Aguas de Zaragoza. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has lifted all alerts in the region.
With the weather stabilizing and temperatures rising, the region is expected to return to normal by Thursday. Endesa is confident that 99% of power users will have their services restored. The cleanup operation continues with around 200 personnel involved, including additional authorities and organizations.
