Did you know that the average German adult moves out of their parents' home at 20.5 years old? But get this — more than one out of every six adults returns home later, according to a recent survey by immowelt. Yes, you read that right!

As for the younger generations — Generation Y (born between 1981 and 1996) and Generation Z (born between 1997 and 2012) — 19% and 18% of them, respectively, move back in at some point. Why? The study suggests that soaring rent prices and job uncertainty might be the culprits. This is quite different from older generations, such as the Baby Boomers (born between 1946 and 1964), who typically moved straight into permanent housing after leaving home, with only 12% of them later moving back in.

Here's an interesting tidbit: On average, Germans move around quite a bit, changing their place of residence 4.4 times in their lives, with 68% having endured at least three moves. female adults tend to relocate more often than men. The survey was conducted in February with nearly 2,000 participants aged 18 and above.
