The city of Nordhorner has a new attraction for outdoor enthusiasts, as the Bikepark Nordhorn officially opened its doors this month. The large dirt park facility, located next to the Rodelberg in the GIP industrial and commercial park, was made possible through a grant of approximately €60,000 from the LEADER program, funded by the European Union from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).

The Bikepark Nordhorn, which cost approximately €160,000 to build, is open to the public and not tied to a specific sports club. It caters to riders of all skill levels, with three different zones: the Pumptrack, suitable for beginners; the Table Line, with jumps for advanced riders; and the Dirt Line, for experienced riders. These zones form a common course, offering various combination options for an exciting riding experience.

The project was developed in close cooperation with the city administration and expert companies, with construction beginning in August 2025 and completed in just a few weeks. The initiative for the Bikepark Nordhorn was taken by an engaged group of young BMX riders from various Nordhorner neighborhoods.

In December 2024, a planning workshop was held with the young people under professional guidance to further refine the ideas for the Bikepark. Activities such as planting slopes and setting up benches are planned for the coming weeks, with the youth participating. A planting action with BUND is also scheduled.

To ensure safety, users must be at least eight years old, wear protective gear such as a helmet and protective pads, and should not use the facility in snow, ice, or wet conditions. Motorized vehicles are not permitted at the Bikepark Nordhorn.

The financing for the construction of the Bikepark Nordhorn was provided 75 percent by funds from the EU and the federal government. The new Bikepark Nordhorner was initiated by the young BMX riders who presented their idea for the facility to the city administration in a meeting at the town hall.

With the Bikepark Nordhorner now open, Nordhorner residents and visitors alike can enjoy a thrilling mountain biking and BMX experience in a safe and welcoming environment.
