**Aachen's Sportpark Soers Set for Major Redevelopment**

Aachen, Germany - The Sportpark Soers, a renowned international equestrian complex, is set for a significant transformation following the announcement of a substantial funding decision. The project, valued at over 40 million euros, will focus on promoting sports infrastructure and boosting the region's community.

The funding decision, handed over by the NRW Minister President Hendrik Wüst to Mayor Sibylle Keupen on July 1, includes an 8.1 million euro contribution towards the demolition of the old police headquarters, which will pave the way for the development of the Sportpark Soers. The demolition is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027, after which preparatory work will commence.

The redevelopment of the Sportpark Soers will offer a wide range of movement and leisure activities to all Aachen residents. The project aims to go beyond its current role as a host for elite equestrian competitions like the prestigious CHIO Aachen, by expanding public access and providing facilities for various events.

The new development will include an ALRV Campus, Mobility Hub, and a Multifunctional Sports Hall. Building planning for the "Sportpark Soers / Hubert-Wienen-Straße" is already underway, with the first consultation in the planning committee scheduled for July 3, 2025.

Stefanie Peters, President of ALRV, expressed her gratitude for the funding decision, stating that it allows them to quickly take the next steps, including the construction of their new riding hall. The Sportpark Soers project is not only important for hosting the FEI World Equestrian Games 2026 but also a testament to the commitment to actively modernizing sports facilities in North Rhine-Westphalia.

After the demolition, a traffic-safe and temporarily usable area with appropriate filling will be created. Ground unsealing measures, preparatory earthworks, and infrastructure measures will follow, leading to the central building projects such as terrain modeling, the relocation of Hubert-Wienen-Straße stub street, and development of the area for traffic, media supply, and supply and disposal.

The redevelopment of Aachen's Sportpark Soers will offer not only residents but also visitors a variety of sports facilities beyond its current equestrian focus. The project, with the inclusion of an ALRV Campus, Mobility Hub, and a Multifunctional Sports Hall, aims to promote diverse sports activities in the region.

After the completion of the demolition in Q1 2027, the focus will shift towards expansion of public access and providing facilities for various events, furthering the region's community and sports infrastructure.
