The 2024 NHL Playoffs are set to commence on Saturday, with the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals set to face off in the first round. However, despite the excitement surrounding this matchup, specific betting odds for each individual first-round series of the 2024 NHL Playoffs remain scarce.

While overall Stanley Cup futures odds for the 2026 season have been released, these do not provide a clear indication of which teams are favored for the 2024 playoffs. The Florida Panthers, Carolina Hurricanes, Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, Vegas Golden Knights, and Edmonton Oilers are among the teams favored to win the Stanley Cup in 2026, but these odds do not necessarily reflect their form or prospects for the upcoming playoffs.

The Central Division futures odds do show the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars as top contenders within their division. Dallas, known for their strong, physical, and elite defensive play, is the top seed in the West for the NHL Playoffs, while the New York Rangers, with their strong goaltending, solid defense, and potent offense, are the top seed in the East.

The Washington Capitals, expected to face a tough series against the New York Rangers, finished the regular season 7 points behind the Boston Bruins, who in turn finished just a single point behind the Florida Panthers. The Carolina Hurricanes, who finished with the second most points in the East, will take on the New York Islanders, who are the 7th seed in the East.

Other notable matchups include the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning, who have no love lost between them, and the Edmonton Oilers, considered the best team in the West after the first month plus of the season, who will start their series against an unspecified opponent on Monday. The Vegas Golden Knights, who are facing difficulties this season due to injuries, will start their series with the top seed in the West, the Colorado Avalanche, due to their 8th seed position.

The Nashville Predators, not a team to take lightly, and the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs, who are not strangers to each other, complete the list of 16 teams competing for the Stanley Cup. The last time the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Islanders played, Carolina won, while the last game between the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning saw the Lightning emerge victorious.

The NHL Postseason is expected to last for two months, with the winner ultimately being crowned the Stanley Cup champion. While the specific betting odds for the 2024 NHL Playoffs first-round series are yet to be released, sportsbook websites and betting platforms will likely provide these closer to or during the playoff period, as these odds fluctuate based on team performance, injuries, and other factors.
