The Ad Hoc Centre for Thailand-Cambodia Border Situation has appointed Panadda "Boom" Wongphudee as a voluntary spokesperson, in a move aimed at countering claims made online and combating fake news from Cambodia. The announcement was made before the centre's meeting on August 8.

Gen Natthaphon Narkphanit, Deputy Minister of Defence and acting Minister of Defence, made the appointment and expressed confidence in Panadda's ability to address local issues effectively.

Panadda's extensive work experience, particularly in the four provinces affected by the Thailand-Cambodia border clashes, is expected to aid her in her new role.

The recent conflict between the two countries, which saw severe clashes mostly in late July 2025, centered near disputed temples, has led to a fragile ceasefire. Diplomatic relations remain downgraded and mistrust persists, with the border remaining a sensitive flashpoint.

However, no public information currently links Panadda's role as voluntary spokesperson to significant changes in the status or developments of this border situation. The border remains a precarious and unresolved issue, despite the official ceasefire.
