The volunteer fire department in Frechen, Germany, has undergone a significant change with the appointment of two new leaders. Ralf Odermatt and Frank Wershoven, both veterans of the department, have been appointed as the head and deputy head, respectively.
Ralf Odermatt, who has been the head of department 37, covering fire and rescue services, since mid-2023, has been chosen as the new head of the fire department. Odermatt was previously employed as the head of the fire department and has shown exceptional leadership skills and dedication to the department.

In 2022, there were 1,014,953 people active in volunteer fire departments across Germany, including 113,996 women. The fire departments in Germany were called out to a total of 2,431,959 rescue service missions and 229,497 fires or assistance operations.
