Apple TV Secures U.S. Formula 1 Rights From 2026, Ending ESPN's Reign

Apple TV has snatched the U.S. broadcasting rights to Formula 1, starting from the 2026 season. This marks the first time the sport will be exclusively streamed, ending ESPN's three-year reign. The deal, worth over $140 million annually, is a significant boost for Apple's sports portfolio.

Apple's new contract, spanning five years, surpasses ESPN's current $85 million per year deal. The tech giant plans to utilise its entire portfolio to grow the sport of Formula 1. This isn't Apple's first foray into the world of F1; it previously produced the authorized movie 'F1', which was a box office success.

Under the new agreement, Apple TV subscribers will enjoy all Formula 1 races, with select races and practice rounds available to stream for free, even without a subscription. F1 TV Premium, the circuit's own subscription service, will also be included at no extra cost within Apple TV.

The shift to Apple TV will bring Formula 1 to a wider audience, joining other major sports like Major League Soccer and Major League Baseball on the platform. With a substantial investment and a long-term commitment, Apple aims to further expand the American Formula 1 audience, building on the growth seen during ESPN's tenure.
