Apple TV is working on a series based on the movie 'The Holiday' for further exploration and adaptation.

The beloved 2006 romantic comedy film "The Holiday," which grossed over $200 million worldwide and maintained a strong cult following, is set to be adapted into a limited series on Apple TV+.

Left Bank Pictures will produce the series, with Krissie Ducker attached to write and executive produce. Ducker, who was a writers assistant on "Catastrophe" early in her career, has also worked as a writer and executive producer on shows like "Killing Eve," "Sweetpea," and "The Assassin."

Rob Delaney, who co-created "Catastrophe" with Sharon Horgan, will serve as a consultant for the series.

The series will centre on two women, one British and one American, who swap houses during the Christmas season and find love along the way. Unlike the original film, the series will reportedly focus on different characters.

Nancy Meyers, who wrote, produced, and directed the original film, is not attached to the series.

Casting for the two lead female roles is currently underway, but no names have been revealed as of yet. Should the cast come together, the series is expected to receive a greenlight.

The development of the "The Holiday" series was first reported by Deadline. Since its release, "The Holiday" has been remembered fondly by audiences, with the original film starring Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet as the two leads. In the original film, Kate Winslet played Iris, a London columnist for The Daily Telegraph, while Cameron Diaz portrayed Amanda, the owner of a film trailer company in Los Angeles.

Stay tuned for updates on the cast and further details about the upcoming "The Holiday" series on Apple TV+.
