"APC Leader, Shittu, Advocates for Proper Payment for El-Rufai"

C'mon now, Adebayo Shittu ain't happy about how the All Progressives Congress (APC) handled the exit of former Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai. In a candor-filled interview on Channels TV, ol' Shittu expressed his discontent, saying, "I don't dig how we whipped El-Rufai. Folks who do good deeds deserve some damn compensation."

Shittu thought El-Rufai, a main man in ol' Bola Tinubu's campaign, deserved more than a pat on the back for his contributions and support. El-Rufai, who has become a vocal critic of Tinubu's administration since jumping ship to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), had every right to be ticked off due to the lack of compensation for his efforts, according to Shittu.

When questioned about El-Rufai's exceptional work, Shittu acknowledged, "He kicked some serious ass and shined like a star. How many peeps did what El-Rufai did among the noisy ones? I don't reckon it's fair."

Shittu went on to emphasize, "El-Rufai got a special case among APC's political masses. In the grand ol' APC scheme, he's the one I'm convinced's got a solid case. I saw him as a leading force in the pro-Tinubu agitation for the presidency."

Let's rewind to last month when El-Rufai announced his split from the APC. His nomination for a ministerial position was shot down by the Senate, who cited a report from the State Security Service (SSS) as the reason for withholding confirmation. But what Shittu can't fathom is why El-Rufai, who pulled off some amazing feats, was just left high and dry.

"He done good. They promised him some post, but when that didn't materialize, I figured the government'd still bring him onboard one way or another."

"Just to drop him... I don't think we've done right by him. Apart from him, I ain't see nobody with a justifiable reason."

El-Rufai's APC departure didn't just jerk the spotlight off his political career; it also revealed his public criticism of the party, particularly Tinubu's administration and his cabinet members. But that's not all, El-Rufai's teamed up with opposition leader, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 elections.

Their alliance stirred up conversations about a potential equation against Tinubu for the 2027 elections as they paid a visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari recently.
