Russia brought chaos to Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-biggest city, late on Friday, unleashing a wave of drone attacks that saw high-rise apartment blocks engulfed in flames and 46 individuals injured. Kharkiv, a frequent target of Russian air assaults just 30 kilometers from the northeastern border, was hit hard yet again. Russia denies intentional civilian targeting, but thousands have lost their lives since the full-scale invasion in February 2022. Meanwhile, Russia's defense ministry boasted of destroying 10 Ukrainian drones in an hour, eight over Bryansk border region and two in Crimea.
Yuri Slyusar, acting governor of Rostov region, bordering Ukraine, disclosed that air defense units had quashed Ukrainian drones over five districts, with falling fragments damaging homes but causing no casualties.
