Anze Kopitar poised to rewrite LA Kings’ history as all-time scoring leader

Anze Kopitar is set to make NHL history as the LA Kings’ all-time leading scorer. The 38-year-old centre, who has spent his entire 20-year NHL career with the team, is now just nine points behind Marcel Dionne’s franchise record. His achievements will be celebrated during a special Legacy Night next season.

Kopitar has dominated the Kings’ scoring charts for over a decade. He has led the team in points 15 times, matching Sidney Crosby for the second-most such seasons in NHL history. Only Dustin Brown and Dave Taylor, both franchise legends, have equalled this feat in Kings’ history.

Beyond points, Kopitar’s trophy collection ranks among the best in Kings’ history. He owns two Stanley Cup rings, two Selke Trophies, three Lady Byng Memorial Trophies, and the Mark Messier Leadership Award. Only Wayne Gretzky, during his time with the Kings, has won more individual NHL honours. The veteran centre is also on the verge of two major milestones. One more point will make him the 39th player in NHL history to reach 1,300. Nine more will see him overtake Dionne as the Kings’ outright top scorer, becoming just the eighth player to hold that title in franchise history. His name already appears across nearly every all-time record for the team, in both the regular season and playoffs. Fans will honour his career on April 2, 2026, at Anze Kopitar Legacy Night. The event will feature an exclusive arena giveaway and limited-edition ticket packages.

Kopitar’s legacy with the Kings is already unmatched. When he breaks the scoring record, he will cement his place as the franchise’s greatest offensive player. The upcoming Legacy Night will recognise his two decades of leadership and excellence in Los Angeles.
