The deadly incident occurred on the night of April 16/17, when a 33-year-old woman, along with her partner, an experienced surfer, arrived at the Eisbach wave for a nighttime surfing session. Around 11:30 p.m., the woman's partner suddenly heard her cries for help and witnessed her disappearing beneath the surface with her board. Despite his best attempts to rescue her in the turbulent currents, he sadly was unsuccessful. Bystanders quickly summoned the fire department, but it was the specially trained rescue forces who ultimately extracted the 33-year-old from the water.
She was immediately transported to the hospital, where she remained in critical condition until her tragic passing roughly a week later.
While the circumstances surrounding the accident remain unclear, Krause remains steadfast in his desire to see the Eisbach wave reopened as promptly as possible. Nevertheless, he emphasized that this will only happen following a thorough review of the investigation files and urgent legal advice.
