Valencia CF Kicks Off 2025-2026 Season with Traditional Ceremony

Valencia CF, the cherished football club of the city, marked the beginning of the 2025-2026 season with a ceremonious event held at the Real Basílica de la Mare de Deu dels Desamparats, the patron saint of Valencia. The ceremony was open to the presence of Javier Solís, Director General of Valencia CF, and Ron Gourlay, CEO of Football of the 'che' team.

The event was officiated by Álvaro Almenar, the vicerrector of the Real Basílica de la Mare de Deu dels Desamparats and chaplain of Valencia CF. Almenar wished both the first team and the women's team the best of luck for the upcoming season.

Captains José Luis Gaya and Pauleta Sancho led the team in placing flowers at the feet of the Virgin, a traditional offering steeped in religious significance for the club. Gaya, known for his defensive and offensive prowess, expressed his hope for the team to maintain the same continuity from the second half of the 2024-2025 La Liga EA Sports campaign.

While Gaya remained tight-lipped about potential new signings, Sancho, the captain of the women's team, expressed her objective of returning the women's team to the First Division after their relegation in the previous season.

Valencia CF will face Italian side Torino in the Trofeo Naranja this Saturday, marking their first competitive match of the season. The club will also present the women's team during the event, showcasing their commitment to supporting and uplifting all teams under the Valencia CF banner.

As the new season unfolds, Valencia CF aims to secure a strong position in La Liga, targeting European competition qualification spots, rebuilding squad strength, and avoiding relegation battles.
