Houston, Texas, is bracing for a stormy day on August 10, as the city is expected to experience scattered storms with enhanced storm coverage compared to the previous day.

According to the latest weather models and updates provided by FOX Local, the storms may bring lots of lightning and gusty winds, particularly in the afternoon and early evening, roughly between noon and 7 pm.

Key details of the forecast indicate that the Gulf moisture combined with daytime heating will produce scattered downpours and potentially intense localized storms. The storm coverage will be higher than on August 9, with showers and storms likely mainly along and south of Interstate 10.

A caution has been issued for those outdoors to seek shelter when thunder is heard due to the potential for lightning and gusty wind gusts. Despite the storm chances, the day will still be hot and humid, with highs in the mid to upper 90s and heat index values up to 105.

These conditions occur within a context of ongoing tropical activity well off the Atlantic Coast, unrelated directly to Houston’s immediate weather on that date.

Meanwhile, the tropical wave known as Invest 97L, which moved off the African coast, has a better chance of becoming the season's first hurricane next week. Another tropical wave, Invest 96L, is currently in the middle of the Atlantic, struggling to stay organized due to dry air getting wrapped into the system. However, Invest 97L is extremely far from the US, but in about 10 days, it could become a concern.

It is always advised to remember when thunder roars, head indoors. The information in this article is from the Houston Weather Team's website. Isolated showers and a few storms will continue in the current weather.

  1. Regardless of the stormy weather on August 10 in Houston, Texas, it's essential to maintain personal health by seeking shelter during thunderstorms due to the potential for lightning and gusty winds.
