Peter Putzing Spills the Tea: Kobald's Contract Extended! 🎉

Anticipating the impending coup at Kennedy Space Center (KSC)

Breaking News: It appears that Christoph Kobald, known as "Kobi," has sealed the deal to extend his contract with the Karlsruher SC (KSC) for at least two more years! This develpment hasn't been officially announced yet, but your boy Putzing has got the scoop! 🍝

Chillin' Like a Villain

Initially, it seemed like a tough negotiation between Kobald and the KSC. The first offer wasn't exactly big-time, mate. But Kobi kept his cool. After crushing performances, he didn't see a substantial pay raise. That's life, eh?

Kobald, aged 27 and currently vacationing in sunny Greece, explained the process quite calmly: "It's normal to talk about the first offer." After all, it's called an offer. They discuss roles, then everyone gives a bit, closes the gap, and finds a solution. Simple as that.

"Looks Promising"

Kobald recently dropped a hint about the contract talks, stating, "It looks good." Translation: The agreement is close, and Kobald will continue his defensive duties in Baden. This would mark his eighth year with the KSC!

If Kobald signs on the dotted line, he'll be jedi-focused on finally climbing the ladder to the Bundesliga. But, he admits, "It will be tough in this second league. Anyone can beat anyone."

A Long History with the Blue-Whites

Kobald has been a Blue-White since 2018. Over four seasons, he's played 148 competitive games, scored eight goals, and assisted two. Last season, an insect bite almost kept him on the sidelines, but he proved his mettle by appearing in the last 13 games unscathed.

Kobald's strengths lie in speed, playmaking, and duel strength. He won 117 duels and 35 aerial duels in his season stats. He's currently clocking the required miles in Greece to maintain his top form. "I've been doing that for a few days now. Fitness is the foundation for good performance."

A Solid Backline Ahead

With competition among squad members fierce, a new tattoo on the backline has Kobald stoked. Paul Scholl, a seasoned defender, has joined the KSC as a central defender. "Someone had to come for Robin Bormuth. I see the KSC well-positioned at the back."

Last season, a niggle or two between central defenders proved challenging. But now, with ample personnel available, the coaches can shuffle players as needed.

Waxing Nostalgic

Kobald kicked off his football journey at SC Perchtoldsdorf. He moved to VfB Admira Wacker Mödling in 2006 and joined the youth team of FK Austria Wien in 2007. Then he graced the Fächerstadt as a regular. A return to the Blue-Whites for his eighth year sounds delightful to the defensive dynamo.

"I feel very comfortable here," Kobald mused, "It makes me proud that I've been given the trust and that the fans have always stood behind me." He expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the coaching team, especially during difficult injury setbacks.

The 2021 season was a breakout year for Kobald, and he looks forward to another season of crushing opponents and delighting fans. "I'm very happy that I managed to do it," he admitted. "That I got the trust to try out the new system with three center backs."

So, is Kobald ready to extend the contract? "I can very much imagine staying with the KSC, especially after that great last season."

Kobald's personal goal? "Stay healthy!" Cheers to that, we say! 🍻💫

Kobald's prolonged tenure with the Karlsruher SC seems more likely as he shows interest in European leagues, commenting, "It looks good." With a potential eighth year ahead, Kobald may aim to leverage his defensive talents and help the club climb towards the Bundesliga, facing tough competition in the second league.
