Omsk Club's Interests in Hockey Player Vasily Ponomarev from Spartak Moscow Under Negotiation
According to insider Ivan Nevsky, the Omsk-based hockey club Avangard is reportedly in talks with Moscow's Spartak regarding the potential transfer of promising forward Vasily Ponomarev. The clubs have been negotiating for several weeks, but as of yet, no agreement has been reached.
Sources close to Nevsky claim Avangard is actively pursuing the acquisition of Ponomarev, whose rights are currently held by Spartak. The parties are said to be discussing the terms of a trade, with Avangard ready to offer a substantial compensation package.
During the 2024/2025 season, Ponomarev played for Wilkes-Barre, a farm club of Pittsburgh, where he managed to score 41 points in 57 games. Previous reports had indicated that SKA St. Petersburg and Yaroslavl's Lokomotiv had expressed interest in Ponomarev, in addition to Avangard.
It should be noted that there have been no widely reported, direct, or confirmed trade negotiations between an Omsk Club and Spartak Moscow regarding the transfer of Ponomarev, as of December 2023. The Omsk Club in question may refer to either Avangard Omsk in ice hockey or FC Irtysh Omsk in football, but no major club known as "Omsk Club" exists.
