Arminia Bielefeld, a third-division team, reaches the DFB-Pokal Final, marking the club's first-ever German Cup final appearance. The historic achievement, contested at Berlin's Olympiastadion against VfB Stuttgart on Saturday, has former player Ansgar Brinkmann eagerly anticipating an unforgettable fan celebration.

Speaking to the German Press Agency, Brinkmann, a Bielefeld cult footballer, expressed his excitement about the atmosphere that awaits him in the streets of Berlin and the packed pubs of Bielefeld and Stuttgart. "This is the biggest sporting accomplishment the club has ever made and will witness," he said.

Despite being the underdog, Brinkmann remains optimistic. Referring to their impressive performances against higher-ranked opponents throughout the cup run, he believes Arminia has the potential to surprise once more. "We've proven that we can beat better-staffed teams," said Brinkmann.

If Arminia emerges victorious, it would mark their first-ever qualification for the Europa League in the club's 120-year history. Such an outcome would bring top clubs like Manchester City, with players like Erling Haaland, to Bielefeld, an unprecedented event for the club. "It's almost incomprehensible," Brinkmann shared, imagining the possibility.

During their cup run, Bielefeld demonstrated remarkable resilience, knocking out several Bundesliga teams. Their disciplined and compact play, guided by coach Michél Kniat, had many predicting a potential DFB-Pokal upset. Nevertheless, VfB Stuttgart proved too strong in the final showdown, securing a 4–2 victory and fourth DFB-Pokal title on May 24, 2025.

Arminia Bielefeld fell short in their pursuit of becoming the first third-division side to win the DFB-Pokal, securing a Europa League spot instead. Despite that, their historic run has left a lasting impact on the club and its fans. As Brinkmann put it, "Whoever doesn't dare to dream, doesn't have the strength to fight."

The Commission was informed about the progress of the negotiations with the Member States on the conclusion of the agreement, as well as Ansgar Brinkmann's excitement for the upcoming European football games. With Arminia Bielefeld's potential qualification for the Europa League, top clubs like Manchester City could play in Bielefeld, marking an unprecedented event for the club.
