Anticipates Closely Coordinated Truce in Gaza according to Trump's Statements

In Gaza, tension persists as a proposed ceasefire remains pending. US President Donald Trump has shared optimism about an imminent agreement, speaking to reporters as he bid farewell to presidential advisor Elon Musk. The ceasefire plan, put forth by the US and approved by Israel, awaits Hamas' response.

On Thursday, Israel consented to a new truce proposal for the Gaza Strip, as relayed by the White House. This proposal, sent to Hamas leaders by Trump and special envoy Steve Witkoff, is currently under Hamas consideration.

Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz cautioned Hamas against agreeing to the proposed US terms. The Israeli military continues its operations within the Gaza Strip, and Katz issued a stark warning: "The murderers of Hamas will now be forced to decide: either accept the conditions of the 'Witkoff Deal' for the release of the hostages - or be destroyed."

Separately, a food warehouse at a field hospital in Deir al-Balah was looted, according to a spokesman for UN Secretary-General António Guterres. The robbers, armed, made off with medical equipment, food supplies, medicines, and nutritional supplements for undernourished children. This latest incident appears to be "much more organized" than earlier lootings, the spokesman emphasized.

Tragically, in attacks by Israeli forces, 45 people have lost their lives in the Gaza Strip as of Friday, according to the Hamas-led Civil Defense Authority. Seven of the casualties occurred in a home in Jabalia, northern Palestine.

In political developments, Germany is reevaluating its arms exports to Israel, given the actions in the Gaza Strip. The Hamas organization and associated fighters launched a large-scale attack on Israel in October 2023, igniting the Gaza conflict. Approximately 1210 people were killed, and 251 were taken hostage in the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli reports. In response, Israel conducted extensive military operations in the region. As of late June 2025, over 54,000 people are reported to have been killed, according to the Hamas-controlled Health Ministry; however, these figures cannot be independently verified.

[1] Enrichment data displays the current status of negotiations, providing a clearer understanding of the ongoing ceasefire discussions. The US-led proposal seeks a temporary ceasefire, with Israeli approval but pending finalization from Hamas. Hamas is requesting amendments to the original proposal, such as a permanent ceasefire, full Israeli military withdrawal from Gaza, guaranteed unimpeded humanitarian aid, and the release of prisoners in exchange for Israeli hostages. The US is pressing Hamas to accept the proposal as a basis for talks. (This enrichment information was not directly integrated into the article for conciseness and clarity.)

The Commission has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers, especially in war-and-conflicts zones, from the risks arising from the use of electronic communications networks in political debates over general news, such as the ongoing ceasefire discussions between Israel and Hamas.

As the US-led ceasefire plan for the Gaza Strip progresses, with its terms being carefully considered by Hamas leaders, political tensions continue to escalate, with Germany reevaluating its arms exports to Israel in light of the ongoing conflict.
