Anticipated Xbox Games Showcase 2025: Key Titles and Developers Highlighted in Sunday's Live Stream

Xbox, Bethesda, and Activision Games Extravaganza - Some Shenanigans Ahead!

It's about that time again, y'all! Xbox's Gamesapalooza is just around the corner, happening on June 8 at 10am Pacific. With Microsoft owning a plethora of studios, it's a what's-what wonderland trying to figure out who might be offering up what delights in 2025. So buckle up, kids, and let's take a look at the studios under Microsoft's wing, and what they might be cooking up.

Bring It On, Xbox Studios!

  • Halo Studios (née 343 Industries): The rebranded studio's been through some shakeups since the layoffs, switched to Unreal Engine, and boosted key positions in 2024. It's looking like the next Halo isn't about to make its big entrance anytime soon.
  • World's Edge: The Age of Empires squad might be tinkering with a new expansion for AoE 2 or perhaps slapping a fresh coat of paint on the very first game.
  • The Coalition: Gears of War: E-Day seems like a surefire hit. It's been a solid year since the jaw-dropper CG trailer, so it's high time we got a better look.
  • Compulsion Games: With South of Midnight only recently released in 2023, don't expect any new announcements any time soon from this small but funky crew.
  • Double Fine: With four years gone since Psychonauts 2 hit the shelves, it's about time for Double Fine to cook up something fresh and weird.
  • The Initiative: We caught a glimpse of the studio's Perfect Dark last year, so a meatier demo and a potential release window seem highly likely.
  • InXile: InXile revealed their distinctly BioShock-inspired Clockwork Revolution last year, so get ready for a deeper look at this intriguing title.
  • Mojang Studios: Expect to hear more about the upcoming Chase the Skies update for Minecraft, along with hints at potential new spin-offs.
  • Ninja Theory: You might just catch a glimpse of Project Mara, but it looks like it's still in its early stages, so we'll likely only get a teaser and title.
  • Obsidian: The Outer Worlds 2 is getting its own live stream after the showcase, so expect loads of new gameplay and a release date set for later this year. We might also see another new project from the studio, given their knack for juggling multiple projects.
  • Playground Games: A solid look at Fable's gameplay seems likely, assuming a 2026 release. We'd also be stunned if Forza Horizon 6 didn't make an appearance this year.
  • Rare: It's been a minute since Everwild was last seen, so it feels like this will be the year for a gameplay reveal to prove it's not languishing in development hell.
  • Turn 10: With the need for a new Forza Motorsport growing, an announcement seems possible this year, though we wouldn't usually expect that and a new Horizon to be announced at the same time.
  • Undead Labs: We caught a cinematic trailer for State of Decay 3 last year, so get ready for a meatier look at the third installment, perhaps with a rough release date in hand.

Bethesda's Bounty

  • Bethesda Game Studios: We know there's more DLC on the way for Starfield, with Starborn making the rounds after Bethesda registered the trademark. It's possible we'll catch a glimpse of The Elder Scrolls 6, but don't be surprised if it's not front and center this year.
  • Zenimax Online: A new expansion or update for The Elder Scrolls Online and fallout 76 seems like a surefire bet.
  • Id Software: With Doom: The Dark Ages just hitting shelves, don't expect anything too substantial from the studio at the showcase.
  • Arkane: It's been about a year and a half since we heard Arkane was working on a Blade game, so we'd love to see a more detailed look at it this year.
  • Machine Games: Perhaps the studio might announce a mini-sequel/standalone expansion for 2024's Indiana Jones and the Great Circle in the style of Wolfenstein: The Old Blood or Youngblood.

Activision's Action:

  • Blizzard: Don't be surprised if the next Diablo 4 expansion takes center stage, along with updates for Overwatch 2.
  • Infinity Ward/Treyarch/Sledgehammer: Given the rotation of the Call of Duty developer merry-go-round, Modern Warfare 4 is looking like a great guess for the next game.

Wrap It Up!

So, there you have it! It seems like Perfect Dark, Gears of War: E-Day, Clockwork Revolution, Fable, Everwild, State of Decay 3, Blade, something from Double Fine, and maybe a glimpse of Project Mara are high on the list for big reveals. We should also expect announcements for Forza Horizon 6 or a new Forza Motorsport, Modern Warfare 4, and perhaps a new project from Obsidian. Don't count on a fresh new Halo or too much on The Elder Scrolls 6 this time around. Enjoy the showcase, and make sure to stay tuned with us here at PC Gamer for the best coverage across Summer Game Fest 2025!
