Anticipated Warm Spell Approaching Latvia Mid-December

Get ready for a wintry week ahead in Latvia, as snowfall is expected to blanket many parts of the country on Thursday. According to general forecasts provided by MeteoNews, the weather service that offers weather data for Latvia and its major cities, the snowfall will be particularly heavy in the west and central regions.

As the sun sets, temperatures will plummet, with the air becoming significantly colder, especially in the eastern areas of the country. The wind will be slow throughout the forecasted period, making the cold temperatures feel even more intense.

While less snow is expected next week, the western and central regions will still experience heavy snowfall. Temperatures are expected to remain between 0 and -10 degrees Celsius, with the possibility of a thaw elsewhere in Latvia.

However, there's a chance that temperatures in Latvia may rise above zero and even above +5 C, as Atlantic cyclones may activate around December 10. In the eastern areas of the country, temperatures can sometimes drop to -15 to -20 C.

By Friday, more than 15 centimeters of fresh snow will cover the ground, particularly in Latgale. The ground will remain white in the eastern part of the country, promising a picturesque winter landscape.

As always, it's essential to stay informed and follow any weather advisories issued by local authorities. Stay warm and safe during this wintery week in Latvia!
