Anticipation builds for the release of two series in the year 2026 - Anticipated TV shows slated for 2026 by creators

In the vibrant world of Westeros, the much-anticipated spin-off series, "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight," is set to premiere on HBO Max. This new series, originally titled "Ein Ritter der Sieben Königreiche," is a part of the successful "Game of Thrones" franchise and is produced by HBO (or HBO Max).

As of September 2025, there is no German-language production of the series, meaning it is not explicitly produced in Germany.

Production Details

The show is overseen by George R.R. Martin, the author of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" books, who plays a significant role in the development of the series. Warner Bros. Television, in collaboration with HBO Entertainment, is responsible for the production, much like in the case of "Game of Thrones" and "House of the Dragon." The series is primarily filmed in Great Britain, following the pattern set by its predecessors. In Germany, the series will be available on HBO Max as an English-language production, typically with synchronisation or subtitles.

German Involvement

Unlike the production team, the synchronisation of the series will be handled by a German studio, either EuroSync or FFS (Film- & Fernseh-Synchron), as is common with other HBO series. It is possible that WOW, the German platform (formerly Sky Ticket, now owned by Warner Bros. Discovery), may be responsible for local marketing and release.

Characters and Setting

The series focuses on the characters Dunk, portrayed by Peter Claffey, a former squire who participates in a tournament as Ser Duncan the Tall, and his squire, Egg, played by Dexter Sol Ansell, who will later become King Aegon V Targaryen.

The exact details of the planned release of HBO Max in Germany have not been announced yet. However, it is expected to launch in Germany at the beginning of 2026. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new series!
