In the picturesque region of Baden-Württemberg, the summer comeback continues this weekend, bringing warm temperatures and sunny skies to the region. As most of the grapes have already been picked, winemakers are now focusing on finishing the harvest quickly, aiming to beat the potential fungus that may strike at night.

The warm temperatures are not about improving quality for the winemakers but about expediting the harvest, ensuring the 2025 vintage, characterized by high quality and a rapid, compact harvest mostly completed by late September, remains on track. The sunny weekends and favourable weather in summer 2025 have been a boon for wine producers across Baden-Württemberg, particularly in Württemberg and Baden.

Meanwhile, innkeepers are looking forward to the sunny weather this weekend, as many of them are reopening their beer gardens and terraces. With temperatures reaching up to 31°C along the Rhine, Neckar, and Danube rivers, it's set to be a perfect weekend for al fresco dining and drinks.

However, the warm weather has not been as beneficial for outdoor destinations in Baden-Württemberg. Travelers have been booking more spontaneously and preferring city trips with covered activities when the weather is bad. As a result, many outdoor pools in the region are closed this weekend, with exceptions in Freiburg and Mainz.

Luckily, there are still several options for those looking to enjoy the water. The Aquamarin beach in Wasserburg, Aquastaad beach and indoor pool in Immenstaad, Fischbach public and lakeside pool in Friedrichshafen, and beaches in the Überlingen district of Nußdorf are still open. Additionally, the West and Ost beaches in Überlingen (Lake of Constance district) and Bodman beach in the Konstanz district will open for one last time this summer.

The German Weather Service (DWD) predicts late summer conditions for Baden-Württemberg this weekend, with Friday expected to be cloudless, with highest temperatures ranging from 27°C to just under 30°C. However, on Sunday, increasingly dense clouds are expected to move in, with rain and thunderstorms possible in the afternoon.

Aside from the weather, there are several events happening across Baden-Württemberg this weekend. The Shepherd's Festival in Albstadt (Zollernalb district) is happening on Saturday and Sunday, while the outdoor festival season has already ended. The Heilbronner Weindorf is taking place in Heilbronn this weekend, offering visitors a chance to sample the region's finest wines.

Despite the positive outlook for the weekend, the hotel and restaurant industry in Baden-Württemberg is under pressure due to a decrease in overnight stays in Germany in the first half of the year and rising costs for food, personnel, and energy. After a weak 2021, the revenues of caterers in Baden-Württemberg decreased by 6.2 percent in the first half of the year.

As the summer comes to a close, it's a time for winemakers to finish their harvest, innkeepers to enjoy the sunny weather, and visitors to make the most of the remaining outdoor activities and events. Whether you're a wine lover, a sun-seeker, or an event enthusiast, Baden-Württemberg has something for everyone this weekend.
