Anticipated Star-Studded Performance on Tuesday Night in Paris: "Solidarity Congo" Concert to feature Gims, Dadju, Gazo and their powerful speeches

On April 22nd at 7 PM, the Accor Arena in Paris is set to host a charitable event like no other, titled "Solidarity Congo". This concert promises a powerhouse lineup of artists, including Gims, Dadju, Soolking, Fally Ipupa, and more, in a joint endeavor to aid victims of the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Organized by seasoned industry veterans, this music and solidarity event is viewed as an "unprecedented mobilization" within the music industry. Among the artists, Gims, winner of Best Male Artist at the Victoires de la Musique, has been vocal about the "inhumane" situation in the DRC and is determined to bring attention to this pressing issue.

His brother, Dadju, boasting 8.9 million Instagram followers, is also on board, performing on stage and serving as a charity partner for the event. His humanitarian organization, Give back charity, will channel the concert proceeds solely for distribution on-site, supporting women victimized by violence in DRC.

Originally, UNICEF was involved in collecting funds, but the agency withdrew from the project amidst controversy regarding the initial event date, which coincided with the International Day of Commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi. Despite the backlash, the organizers defended their choice, attributing the conflict to scheduling constraints.

Despite the challenges faced, the list of participants has expanded, and the concert start time has been moved up by an hour. The event is estimated to draw up to 11,000 spectators, featuring an array of Congolese artists, such as Soolking, Gazo, Youssoupha, Sidiki Diabaté, Ipupa, and newcomers Théodora and Merveille.

The evening will be punctuated by speeches from activists, victims, and partners, shedding light on the plight of children affected by the war in eastern Congo. The event is backed by Fonarev, a Kinshasa-based institution that assists victims of violence connected to conflicts, especially children.

For the past 30 years, the eastern DRC, rich in natural resources and bordering Rwanda, has been plagued by brutal violence involving numerous armed groups and neighboring nations. The latest escalation, led by the M23 armed group, has resulted in an estimated 800,000 deaths and displacement of hundreds of thousands of residents, according to the UN and the Congolese government.

Despite the event's postponement, these artists are fully committed to generating awareness and funds for those affected by the conflict in the Congo. The success of Solidarité Congo will serve as a testament to the industry's enduring engagement in Congolese causes.
