Anticipated Protests Planned for This Saturday
On September 20th, two significant demonstrations are set to take place in Cologne city centre. The "March for Life" demonstration, registered from 12:45 PM to 4:45 PM, and the "Pro Choice" counter-demonstration, will both occur in the heart of the city.
Approximately 5,000 participants are expected for the "March for Life" demonstration, which will start and end at Neumarkt square, passing through inner-city streets. A counter-demonstration under the motto "Pro Choice" with 1,000 registered participants is also planned, and will take place on the square.
The Cologne police will be present with strong forces to ensure the safety of all participants. They will act against troublemakers who attempt to misuse freedom of expression and assembly to commit criminal offenses.
The demonstrations may lead to continuous street and intersection closures and partial disruptions in public transport. Locals and visitors are urged to take these traffic disruptions into account in their plans.
It's important to note that the Rhine bridges are not expected to be affected by the traffic disruptions.
For updates on the demonstrations, the Cologne police will provide information via Facebook and Twitter. The updates will cover significant events or developments during the operation.
The organization that called for the "Pro Choice" counter-demonstration in Cologne on Saturday, September 20, is the alliance called Bündnis Pro Choice Köln, which advocates for the decriminalization of abortion and bodily and sexual self-determination.
The police encourage all participants to exercise their right to freedom of speech and assembly peacefully and respectfully, and to adhere to the rules and regulations set forth by the authorities.
