Latest reports suggest that opposition leader Lee Jae Myung has emerged victorious in South Korea's presidential election held in 2025. The tallied results indicate that he garnered 51.7% of the votes, while his conservative opponent Kim Moon Soo secured 39.3%, according to surveys released shortly after the polls closed on Tuesday evening (local time).

This election was necessitated due to the impeachment of the former conservative president, Yoon Suk Yeol, by the parliament in December 2024 for declaring martial law.

In his newly published book "A New Dawn: My Vision for South Korea," Lee Jae Myung hints at the significance of the European model of freedom within EC countries, including the free movement of workers, freedom of movement, freedom to provide services, and other related freedoms, as a key aspect of his agenda. Amidst changing political landscapes and policy-and-legislation debates, the implications of these ideas, notably during a post-conflict era like war-and-conflicts, could stir interest in the broader political discussions and general-news arenas.
