Anticipated PC Game Releases in August That Have Us Pumped Up
August 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting month for PC gamers, with a diverse lineup of new releases that cater to various tastes.
Kicking off the month, Tiny Bookshop, a bookstore management and decoration game, will be available on Steam from the 7th. On the same day, gamers can also look forward to Gradius Origins, a side-scrolling shooter collection, and MakeRoom, a diorama decoration sandbox.
The 13th of August sees the launch of Dungeon Stalkers and Abyssus, a deep sea co-op roguelite FPS. For those who enjoy rhythm games, Fresh Tracks - Rhythm - Musical skiiing mayhem will be released on the 12th.
On the 14th, Dawn of War, a Definitive Edition with expansions included, will be available, followed by Madden 26, the annual NFL showdown, on the 14th. The much-anticipated remaster, Gears of War: Reloaded, will release on the 26th, offering chainsaw bayonets action in 4K.
The 19th of August will see the release of Sword of the Sea, developed by Giant Squid, which features surfing sand dunes gameplay. This is followed by the release of Morbid Metal, a character swapping hack-n-slash game, on the 20th.
On the 27th, Varlet, a school-life RPG, and Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar, a DS-era remake, will be available. The month will close with the release of Lost Soul Aside, an action RPG inspired by Devil May Cry and Final Fantasy, on the 29th.
Notable releases in August also include Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, a ninja-themed action game, and All Systems Dance, a robo-dancing platformer. The horror-themed games Whisper Mountain Outbreak (Early Access on the 11th) and Whisper of the House (27th) are also set to be released.
In addition to the game releases, various events are taking place in August. The Houses of the Dead 2: Remake, Pigface, and Pizza Bandit will be available on Steam. Gamescom 2025, one of the world's largest gaming conventions, will begin on the 20th in Cologne, Germany.
Chained Echoes will receive a DLC update, Ashes of Elrant, on the 7th, and Final Fantasy XIV patch 7.3 will continue Dawntrail's story on the 5th. The big Gamescom livestreaming showcase, Gamescom Opening Night Live, will air on the 19th.
Lastly, it's worth noting that METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER (Remake) and Mafia: The Old Country are also set to release in August 2025, adding to the excitement for PC gamers.
