Anticipated Houston Weather: High humidity, prospect of thunderstorms forecasted for Tuesday
Weather Forecast for Houston This Week: Heat, Rain, and a Brief Cool Down
Houston residents can expect a transition from hot and mostly dry early in the week to more scattered showers and thunderstorms mid-to-late week, according to the latest weather forecast.
Monday will see hot, mostly sunny conditions with high temperatures in the mid- to upper-90s. The rain chance is near zero, and humidity will be lower compared to the rest of the week. Lows will be in the upper 70s.
Tuesday through Thursday will bring an increase in unsettled weather, with daily rain chances of around 30-40%. High temperatures will remain in the mid-90s, and humidity levels will rise. Lows will also be in the upper 70s.
Friday through Sunday will see a weak front move into the area, causing rain chances to rise to about 50%. High temperatures will drop slightly to near mid-90s on Friday, falling further over the weekend to around 90°F. Lows will be in the low to mid-70s. Some stronger coastal storms are possible, but no major accumulations are expected, with rainfall totals generally being tenths of an inch. Localized street flooding may occur, but overall, accumulations will be light.
At this time, there is a low chance for any tropical depression development impacting Houston.
Elsewhere, Hurricane Erin continues to churn in the Atlantic, but it is far away from Texas and will have no effect on the area. Tropical Storm and Storm Surge watches are in place for the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and indirect impacts of large swells and dangerous rip currents are likely up and down the eastern seaboard, especially in coastal North Carolina.
Two tropical waves are being watched in the Eastern Atlantic, with a 60% and 30% chance for development over the next seven days. A front will move across the region, which could drop temperatures slightly. Erin is predicted to curve away from the eastern coast of the U.S. this week.
Overall, residents of Houston can expect a week of heat, with increasing rain chances and a brief cool down towards the end of the week. Use caution in localized heavy rain areas due to some small flood risk.
