Anticipated high temperatures of 26 degrees Celsius on Friday, accompanied by a humid and sticky weekend ahead.

Ireland is currently experiencing a warm spell, with the country set to enjoy a mostly dry and sunny weekend, according to meteorological forecasts.

Any mist patches are expected to clear on Friday morning, leaving a day with plenty of sunshine. The highest temperatures on this day will range from 20 to 26 degrees, with the midlands and south of the country being the warmest regions.

Saturday is forecast to be dry for many places, with highest temperatures ranging from 21 to 26 degrees. However, showers are expected to extend to parts of Connacht and southwest Leinster in the evening. Munster will be breezier with moderate winds and thicker cloud pushing in from the southwest, bringing scattered showers.

Sunday will start out dry and mostly sunny, but scattered showers are expected to push in from the southwest during the morning. Sunday will also be another warm day, with highest temperatures of 19 to 25 degrees. Some showers on this day could turn heavy and thundery during the afternoon and evening.

Monday will bring a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, some of which could become thundery. Highest temperatures will reach 19 to 25 degrees.

The warm weather in Ireland is primarily being caused by a heat dome, an area of high pressure settling over the land, trapping hot air underneath it so that the air cannot rise or fall. This leads to sustained warm conditions, creating stable, trapped hot air contributing to the warm spell in Ireland.

Friday night will be largely dry and clear with a few patches of mist and fog forming around dawn. The lowest temperatures on this night will range from 10 to 14 degrees. Isolated showers may develop near the southwest coast overnight.

Saturday night will be very mild and muggy, with temperatures not falling below 14 to 17 degrees.

The mild and humid conditions are expected to continue over the weekend. However, the remnants of Hurricane Erin are set to bring unsettled weather in the coming days, potentially disrupting the current warm spell.

Weather-forecasting suggests a predominantly sunny weekend for Ireland, alleviating the mist patches on Friday morning to make way for a day filled with sunshine. On Saturday, weather-forecasting predicts dry conditions for most places, though showers are expected in Connacht and southwest Leinster, and Munster is forecast to be breezier with scattered showers.
