Mass Gathering Anticipated on Sylt's Whit Sunday – Thousands of Revelers Expected - Anticipated Gathering on Sylt: Thousands to Attend Pentecost Event

A year since the controversial 'L'amour toujours' incident rocked a Sylt club, anticipation is growing for the influx of party-goers heading to Germany's North Sea's largest island over the Whitsun weekend. With numerous Whitsun celebrations planned in the posh resort of Kampen, the atmosphere is set to buzz. According to Birgit Friese, Kampen's tourism chief, a whopping 2,000 to 3,000 guests are expected to jet off to Kampen, solely for this Whitsun soiree.

The tourism chief's spirits remain unperturbed, as evident from the brisk bar and club ticket sales over the four-day festivities. "We're eagerly awaiting an influx of youthful spirits who'll join us in the village and on the island, glowing with joy,” beamed Friese.

While there's no historical data on Whitsun tourists on the whole island, Sylt Marketing GmbH (SMG) announced 101,907 visitors in May 2023. Alas, we await recent figures.

The infamous 2024 Whitsun scandal at Club Pony in Kampen - with racist chants marring "L'amour toujours" - has sparked changes at the planned Whitsun parties. The club operator promises 'safe spaces' and entrance wristbands adorned with anti-racism slogans this year.

To the captivating rhythm of Gigi D'Agostino's "L'amour toujours," several guests allegedly shouted hate speech like "Germany for the Germans - foreigners out!" at Club Pony in Kampen during Whitsun Saturday 2024. A viral video of the incident led to multiple investigations, including looking into suspected incitement to hatred.

Despite the public prosecutor's office in Flensburg dropping charges against three out of four individuals involved, incidents accompanying the party hit "L'amour toujours" are increasingly prevalent. In various states, similar occurrences surfaced in the months leading up to and following the island's uproar.
