Anticipated 2025 High School Football Season Preview: Lloyd Aiming to Compete with Local Elite for State Titles

Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts Set Sights on District Championship and Deep Playoff Run in 2025

The Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts, a high school football team based in Northern Kentucky, are gearing up for the 2025 season with high hopes. Coming off a successful 2024 campaign that saw them finish with a record of 9-3 and a second-round loss in the Class 3A playoffs, the team is poised to make another strong showing.

Key to their success is the return of several experienced players. Lloyd Memorial returns five offensive starters and six defensive starters from last year's team, including their senior quarterback Kaleb Evans and leading tackler Lincoln Tomlinson. Evans, who completed an impressive 151 of 234 passes for 2,070 yards, 24 touchdowns, and only three interceptions last season, is currently rehabbing a broken bone in his non-throwing arm and is expected to be cleared in preseason.

The team's offensive line is stable with five returning offensive linemen, including Brandon Carter (6-3, 260), Aiden Dolan, David Dobbs, Ryan Miller, and Bill Lewis (6-4, 210). However, Lloyd lost all three top running backs responsible for 1,059 yards in 2024. Avery Conrad and Lincoln Tomlinson are expected to step in as running backs to fill those gaps.

On defense, the return of six starters and key player Lincoln Tomlinson should maintain their strength. Lloyd Memorial is viewed as the clear frontrunner in the Class 3A, 5th District, largely due to their returning talent and their 2024 success, with Bourbon County considered the likely challenger.

The Juggernauts have young players in several positions for the upcoming season, but they have a solid foundation with experienced returning players. Alijah Griffin is the top returning skill player for Lloyd Memorial, and Colton Barger, Isaiah Jones, and Bill Lewis are expected to be part of the passing attack.

Lloyd Memorial's 2025 schedule includes games against Newport Central Catholic, Newport, Conner, Cincinnati Aiken, Campbell County, Pendleton County, Bourbon County, Henry County, Carroll County, and Boone County. The team has gone 29-9 over the last three years and has won the Northern Kentucky Officials Association Sportsmanship Award in two of the last three seasons.

With a strong quarterback returning from injury, a mostly intact offensive line, and a talented group of returning defenders, the Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts are well-positioned to compete for the district championship and possibly advance deep into the playoffs again in 2025. The key challenges will be replacing lost skill position players, especially at running back, and avoiding turnovers that plagued them in the previous season’s closing loss.

  5.
